FMM 3rd International Conference On Excellence of Manufacturing

It was a hell without Internet in my life when my house experienced a 1 week and 1 day break down, from 9th June to 16th June. “ Tu air r, dah serap ke dalam kabel, so orang kami akan fixkannya.” one of the technicians said. It took them a week to repair it…The Malaysian Style.

Tuesday(19th June), my modem was officially pronounced ‘dead’ at 1900 and my dad have to buy a new modem. Wth…RM 198 for Aztech router, but no choice lo, no modem cannot work at all. I was supposed to collect the ‘corpse’ and the new ‘baby’ at Desa Complex, but at that time, I was in Sunway Pyramid..haha.

I was attending an International Conference, as I have mentioned it before in the previous post. It disappointed me a little, I thought the participants would surpass 150 ppl, manatau, oni 80ppl ++. The conference started at 9.15am to 6.30pm. The best part of going to a conference is, EAT!!! 10sth break time, 1 pm Lunch- Chinese Lunch set, worth RM200++, 3 sth break time. So, is this conference beneficial to me? Yeah, it is, as I have learnt 90% of new systems, technologies and methods to solve problems, but its mostly on Manufacturing sector, little on Logistics.

(Ir Segaran & Stefan Weiler respectively)

Anyway, it’s an eye opener to me, able to listen the wonderful slangs of various countries’ speakers speaking ENGLISH!!! I must admit that when the Australian guy, Chris Geragthy, Managing Partner of Kepner-Tregoe Asia Pacific started talking, I listened 1 minute and dreamt on for 3 minutes, duno wth he is talking about. Next is a Chinese Born American(CBA), cos he was ‘manufactured’ in China and raised in US since he was a few yrs old. He is Hong Li, Vice President of Lean Enterprise China. The following few speakers are :

1)Haji Abd. Wahid Mohammad, MD of Best Practice Management Consulting;

2) Ir Segaran A. Narayanan, Regional Manufacturing Excellence Manager of Schneider Electric Asia Pacific;

3) Stefan Weiler, a German, MD of Project Engineering Asia in Thailand.

After the conference, I have a chat with Hong Li, and to my surprise, he said China is still short of labor force. He explained further that it happens bcos the industries or companies could not find the graduates with the required skills and the normal turnover rate in a company in China is about 100%. I got a shocked during that time..100%, that means anyone that work in a company will(100%) leave the company after sometime, few ppl hav stayed a year in a company & bla bla bla…We(students) chatted with him until my FMM executive Director have to pull Hong Li away from us..hahaha

We left Sunway Resort around 6.30 pm and head straight to Sunway Pyramid for a bowling game. During the game, one of my fren, Chris broke her nails(est.4cm long), she was so heart broken… As usual, I won the game with a score of 105, the 2nd is around 80+ and the rest is 60+. . The following is about bowling..u can c my fren's reaction after breaking her nail..hehe..GOTCHA!)

FMM? Can eat one ar?

FMM (my study place, it’s not a college but an institute) has yet again addressed the issue of the petrol hike affecting the manufacturers in today’s The Star Manufacturers worry, particularly in the Logistics and Transportation sector. Most of you would not know this institute (not until I mentioned it), but it’s normal. The following is a brief description of FMM:

FMM - "The Voice of the Malaysian Manufacturing Industry"

The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) is Malaysia's premier economic organization. Since its establishment in 1968, the FMM has consistently led Malaysian manufacturers in spearheading the nation's growth and modernization. Today, as the largest private sector economic organization in Malaysia representing over 2,000 manufacturing and industrial service companies of varying sizes, the FMM is the officially recognized and acknowledged voice of the industry.

FMM Vision
To make Malaysian industries globally competitive

Quality Policy
Total commitment to service excellence and quality.

The reason that I mentioned my institute is to create awareness upon all of you, not which by knowing this you will get richer in wealth but in your general knowledge. Wisma FMM is located in Bandar Sri Damansara (the place I study Logistics Management). It is also a place for representatives from various manufacturing companies to meet and discuss the variety of challenges in today’s market. I expect the forthcoming FMM 3rd International Conference on Excellence in Manufacturing on 17th June, 2008 in Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa would be exciting. Everyone (CEOs, GM, Managers, etc) would be jumping up and down over the fuel hike. I am also invited (or forced) to join the conference for FOC (each participant would need to pay RM1.5k), I guess I would be following their monkey acts if they do so.

So, if your parents, friends or relatives are in the manufacturing, logistics sectors & etc,and have yet to join FMM, then I would encourage you to persuade them(I will not be getting any incentives nor benefits of companies joining bcos of me) join this institute for strategic reasons. Some of the reasons include, sending employees for trainings in FMM and able to hire highly qualified and trained people (like me) into your/their respective organizations. For more info, you can log in to FMM or for education info, log in to FMM Education.

Have a nice day.(Piakk! Celaka u,why you slapped me? Oil increase laa, stupid! We all crying and u still say have a nice day! Aiyaa...tats y i call u join FMM looo!)

Amusing & Interesting Replies

The word “subsidy” has been brandished by the BN government as if it has so generously helped the rakyat and in doing so incurred losses. This simple example will help to explain the fallacy:

Example:
Ahmad is a fisherman. He sells a fish to you at $10 which is below the market value of $15. Let’s assume that he caught the fish from the abundance of the sea at little or no cost. Ahmad claims that since the market value of the fish is $15 and he sold you the fish for $10, he had subsidised you $5 and therefore made a loss of $5.

Question : Did Ahmad actually make a profit of $10 or loss of $5 which he claimed is the subsidy?

Answer:
Ahmad makes a profit of $10 which is the difference of the selling price ($10) minus the cost price ($0 since the fish was caught from the abundance of the sea). There is no subsidy as claimed by Ahmad.

The BN government claims that it is a subsidy because the oil produced by Petronas is kept separated and treated as somebody else’s property (you know who). By right, the oil belongs to all citizens of the country and the government is a trustee for the citizens. So as in the above simple example, the BN government cannot claim that it has subsidised the citizen!

"God willing I hope Malaysians will not demonstrate over this," he said, referring to fury over earlier hikes in a country where public transport is poor and most people are reliant on their cars.

1st you do stupid things like barring foreigners to spend in our country, then you take back the ruling and be a laughing jokes among Singaporean you stupid pm and gang

2nd you increase petrol by 78 cents, nice round up to rm 2.70 and you say you will review it monthly, so next month another 30 cents increase to make a better round number to rm 3?

stupid pm, you lied and corrupt your way to stay in power and what is your plan now? Are you going to raise up your oxford ape and bring down the oil price so Malaysians will think he is a saviour and vote him as pm?

So what if our petrol is still cheapest among the region? Is our car prices among the cheapest in the region? Is our benefits EQUAL among malaysians and equal among the region? Do you give our social welfare services like caring for the lower income group and retiree like Australia? How about our judiciary and parliament and police system? Are they also the lowest standard among the regions? You stupid baboon mr pm, you just play with people life as it was playing with your balls.

I am not highly educated as your top ministers mr bodohwi, but I do simple economics such as debit and credit and ROI, and I hopefully can manage my life properly without you inferring anymore. Be more transparent, when you invest our money, what are the returns. Don't keep telling we achieve growth 5% or 7% or 100%, no one gives a fuck about those numbers, unless the numbers translate to more cash incentive for us or cheaper vehicles or even cheaper petrol.

God bless your soul

Protest in KL!WHEN???

Dear Fak Lah, come and have a cup of coffee with me and I shall let you pay for it. Since you are in a generous mood (78cents inc.), maybe I'll let you treat me a bowl of laksa. I was back in my hometown last week(pop. 15000) and a bowl of noodle when from RM2.20 to RM2.70 (if you can't count,I'll bring along a calculator in case you think I'll lie to you if I say it's more than 20% inc.),and a plate of fried beehoon goes from Rm3.00 to Rm3.50. BTW, a cup of kopi-O is RM1.10 vs Rm 1.00...that's more than the 5% inflation rate you mentioned yesterday. Those prices in my hometown just went up only last month b4
your announcement. I wonder what it'll be the next time I goes home.
With your announcement, you've just increase the pop. of people in poverty level. Game for lunch, I'll let you buy also. try nasi campur. I wonder how much could Rm4.00 buys me. May I suggest lunch at Sungei Wang foodcourt, as Rm3.00 we can still have a small piece of meat plus two veg. of yr choice. It's still one of the cheapest in town.

I wish my boss were like you...giving me a 40% hike in salary..overnight!!!As far as I 'm concerned, I've not had that much of an inc. except from you. Now for dinner, guess I have to go to Sungei Wang again for dinner...ooops. I'll be stuck in the jam and to pay higher petrol for my motorbike...shit! no appetite already.

What am I gonna do with the spiraling prices of everything from rice, petrol, elect., oil, roticanai, pasar noodles, veg, etc...etc How am I going to cover for this price inc.? Ask for a raise from my boss? Get a second job? Join Dumno to rob the population? Sorry, can you tell me what to do to supplement my income so as to feed my wife and two school going children. Shit!. just struck me I'll have to pay more for their bus fares.

Super anyone!!! I'll have to skip this from now onwards as I must cut back on my
spending. I am really worry where all this is leading to down the road. In a few months time, not only I have to pay alot more for everything, I'll have to skimp on all my luxuries like outing with friends and even family members. The economy
is not doing well, politically, you're even worse off, the stock market is just like you...sleeping!! Sorry!

A 78 Cents 'High' Tsunami Followed by Earthquake and Never Ending Aftershocks

“I love my country when it is in total chaos,

I love my country when the people is suffering while we do nothing,

I love my country when I can do anything I want and scrap the things that I oppose,

I love my country when I can use any laws to detain anyone who is not in favor with me,

I love my country when the local authorities are always standing on my side without doubt and disagreement,

I love my country the most when the peoples’ assets seep into my treasury when I announced 78 cents will be raised,

I LOVE MALAYSIA! ”

I dedicated this ‘poem’ to a man in which I have no respect to, insults the people, lie to the people and torture the people to live in a luxury life. I believe all of you already know who I am referring to as I don’t wish to speak and write the You-Know-Who name in my blog.

Yes, some of you may say that You-Know-Who is not the only one who made the decision, you are right. 'God willing I hope Malaysians will not demonstrate over this,' You-Know-Who said and yet, You-Know-Who still gave the green light to increase the price even You-Know-Who already had an inkling about the demonstration. In the end, You-Know-Who just did it. You-Know-Who just did it for the sake of pleasing You-Know-Who’s companions.

Some of my friends said Pakatan Rakyat did not fulfill their promise. Pakatan Rakyat did not fulfill their promise is because they are not the Federal Government, and they are just merely holding the 5 states and short of 30 MPs to form the Fed Govt. “But even if the PR is the Fed Govt, the price will still be increased.” said by some of my friends. Wow, they can really predict the future huh? I guess I might one day find them to predict how many children I will have.

Back to the issue, before the 12th GE, You-Know-Who said there will be no hike in petrol, looks what happens now? So do you still think You-Know-Who kept the promise? The PR is not the Fed Govt, so you can’t say they did not fulfill the promise as they never had the chance to fulfill their promises. It is the current Fed Govt that did not fulfill the promise. Kick them out and give the PR a chance. If the PR failed to perform the promises, then kick them out and bring in another govt. The rakyat must exercise their rights to fight for their cause.

My heart ached when I heard some of my friends’ family will be undergoing a tough time due to the petrol price hike, especially in the Logistics & Transportation sectors. Remember this, Malaysia does not purchase any petrol from other countries but produce it and yet increasing the price like no one’s business.

If should you disagree any of the statements above, please don’t be afraid to leave a comment as I would not charge you under Sedition Act. Cheers.

A Day Late

I was supposed to post my 1st posting in my blog in commemoration of Media Freedom on June 1, however an event stopped me from executing my plan…

It was 10.30pm, Sunday, I just came out of a shop in Wangsa Permai with Choong Wai (a.k.a Kira Yamato, not Tomato) and v were heading to my car as I was fetching him back home. When I was approaching my car, I noticed a black Vios parked behind my car. The Vios was blocking 2 cars, in which half of its body were blocking mine and another half is blocking the other. So, I got into my car, started the engine, switch on to my favorite song in my phone (Nightwish-Everdream) and started to horn.

One minute past, still no sign of the owner removing the Vios. I horned again…still no sign of him/her. 5 min past and the air was filled with my car horn. 10 min past, I phoned my dad to tell him of my situation, he told me to wait as we could not do anything. 15 min past and I called my cousin Voon Ken as we were supposed to go out for a drink and called him to my aid (Btw, he was in the toilet making some ‘chocolate cake’). 20 min past and I was still horning!!! My mercy has reached the limit, when all hell was to be broken loosed.

The site started to attract people, firstly is 2 of them, so I got down of my car and talked with them. One of the good guy said I can reverse my car out if I maneuver the car into an angle(remember? Only half of the Vios’s body was blocking my car). Later, I shook my head to signify my disagreement and he offered to help me drive out, so I let him. It is also the time when an European guy came into the situation and offered his advices, while the good guy in my car was reversing, and later he stopped. The back of my car was in the position where it is entirely in the middle of the Wira (its not the car being blocked by the Vios), parked beside my car and the Vios, and no space was left between it. The good guy came down and inspect the situation while the European was expressing his views that my car can be reversed.

25 min past and the crowd grew larger to about 10 people. Yes, the European guy was right in a part, that is my car can be reversed, but he did not think of my side mirrors, which it will be broken if my car was to be reversed.

The crowd continued to grow…about 15 people. It was also the time when 5 people started to lend a hand and pushed the Vios. The alarm went off for about a minute, but to no avail, the Vios did not move as it is Auto, not manual.

Everyone was scratching their heads, ready to give up when a new hope arise. A young and pretty lady walked towards my car and told me that the Wira belonged to a Bak Kut Teh seller. I immediately asked Choong Wai to read for me the plate number of the Wira and I rushed to the stall.

The following conversation was in Cantonese, but I translated it to English:

Me: Uncle, is your car number W** ****?

Uncle: Ya, it is my car, why?

Me: My car was blocked by some sohai and he still haven’t show up. I horned for 20 min already.

Uncle: Sure, sure, sure, no problem. I will reverse it after I served a customer.

Thank God…luckily the car belongs to him, if not I will be stucked there for the rest of the night. I went back and told the European guy that the owner of the Wira is coming. The crowd grew even larger, and I lost my count. Hehe. The Uncle reversed his car while I reversed mine with the help of few people showing their hands of in what direction I should turn my wheel handle. Finally, I got out of the stupid place, and before I sped off, I lowered down the windows, horned twice, raised my hand and thanked all of them for helping me, and they replied me: “You are welcomed” by raising their hands.

I was filled with anger and at the same time, I was glad that Malaysians and Europeans are considerate to help me, and I am inspired by this event to help people when I have the chance. Anyway, after chatting with few of my friends, I really regretted of not damaging the Vios...What say u?
